8/8/19  Athletic Clearance system issues
Hi,

You (student and parent(s)) are receiving this email because you have registered for cross country on the Athletic Clearance system and as of 8/7/19 at 10:30PM, your eligibility status is "uncleared".  The athletic trainer, not me, makes the determination of your status.

1. Obviously, you need a current sports physical which is good for a calendar year.

2. You need to pass the concussion base test that is referred on the Athletic Clearance system as the "Impact Test".  The next testing is on 8/8/19 from 10AM to 2PM in Room 307.  The test takes about 30 minutes and only about 32 people can test at the same time.  There are no dates set for testing beyond 8/8 as the expectation was all fall sport athletes would complete it before the start date of 8/9.

3. You must provide proof of insurance by making a copy of or photographing your medical card and uploading it to the system.

4. Make sure that all signatures have been done and dated.

5. Your correct student id is required.

6. There are two pages to the physical; both must be uploaded to the system.  Anything that you upload can not be password protected.  It is best to use PDF files. Make sure that you can view the file(s) on the system by getting out, re-logging on, and try to view them.

You cannot tryout until you are cleared on Athletic Clearance.

8/8/19  Cross Country tryouts
Tryouts for cross country is not one day. It is a number of days, through 8/24.  I accumulate data about each person trying out before I determine their status.  If you miss too many days, you will not be on the team or be subject to time trials.  If you come out really late, your chances of being on the team will diminish. During the tryout period we will be doing intervals on the track, road runs, trail/hill runs (Fremont Older), time trials, conditioning, and weight room.  Tryouts/practice can be up to three hours.

1. You must have proper running shoes in good condition.
2. You must have sweat pants and running pants for the warm-up.
3. Bring water,
4. Hydrate throughout the day, every day.
5. Get enough rest, i.e. sleep.
6. Don't eat junk.
7. Be prepared.  Your body and mind will be under stress.
8. Don't come late to Fremont Older.  Get dropped off (parking is very limited) and picked-up from 8:30PM to 8:45PM.

This email is being sent only to those on the Athletic Clearance system as of 8/7/19, 10:30PM.  Please share with your parents.
